Mediumship Facts

What is a Medium?

A medium provides evidence of survival of the human soul beyond the physical state we call death. S/he is the link between the two worlds of incarnation and spirit, communicating with people who have died (souls that have left their human body) through mind-to-mind contact. Mediumship is the ability to communicate with souls in the afterlife. Its objective is to show survival of the human personality after death and to help the bereaved come to terms with their loss. Mediumistic sittings are not for fortune telling and contact cannot always be established. As all communication, it is a dialogue, a two-sided interaction, which requires a willingness and openness on both sides of the connection.

Mediums identify three forms of mental mediumship:

  • Clairvoyance
  • Clairaudience
  • Clairsentience

What is Clairvoyance?

A person who is Clairvoyant can see Spirits from the afterlife, which means they see the person communicating in their mind’s eye, which can be in the form of a picture or like watching a film or a TV screen in your head. Some Mediums can see spirits with their physical eyes as if there is another person in the same room as themselves. The Medium will then describe what they see to whoever is having a reading. It is not always people that Mediums see, it can also be animals or even objects and symbols. Sometimes objects will be shown to the Medium to be interpreted symbolically.

What is Clairaudience?

With this form of Mediumship the person hears the spirit communicating with them. Again this can be voices in the Medium’s head or thoughts running through the mind. Sometimes a Medium will actually hear someone talking to them with their physical ears. The medium will not only hear voices but, at times, may also be given music or singing to interpret.

What is Clairsentience?

Clairsentience is frequently experienced by people just beginning to understand the gift of psychic awareness and/ or mediumship that they have. This is a complex psychic ability. Clairsentience involves relating to other realities or entities through a sense of touch. Each of our five senses has a corresponding spiritual sense. Clairsentients receive guidance and spirit communications through an etheric sense of smell, taste, and touch.
